Sh_t doesn’t roll uphill and having sex with your grandmother doesn’t make you a man . Even if she’s about to bear your child via a surrogate. Yes that story just happens to be true. Click on link provided to read further . Love means never having to say you’re sorry. “Hey grandma, how’d you feel about having a nooner ” ? Now when I was growing up in the Caribbean I was taught to have respect for my peers and elders , not have sex with them . But I guess these are some fu_ked up times that we’re now said to be living in !
Well apart from that little tidbit , I read with interest to today, where former ‘three time’ NBA All Star , Boston Celtics , Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat player Antoine Walker wants to make a return to the NBA . Considering the fact Walker has is now bankrupt and owes a casino close to $1million for check fraud. Do you get the impression that Walker’s needs at this time goes way beyond basketball ? The player has been spent the last few months training with his former Kentucky Wildcats’ coach Rick Pitino on the campus of the University of Louisville , in Kentucky.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP)—Former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker(notes) is eyeing an NBA comeback.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino says Walker will work out with several Cardinals over the next few weeks. Walker hasn’t played in the NBA since 2008 and has suffered legal and financial woes since stepping away from the game.
Walker agreed to pay three Las Vegas casinos over $900,000 to settle three bad check charges last fall.
Pitino, who coached Walker at Kentucky in the 1990s, said he also hopes Walker will talk to his players about the temptations that come with life as a professional.
Walker was a three-time all-star with the Boston Celtics and won a championship with the Miami Heat in 2006. He played briefly in Puerto Rico during the 2009-10 season.
Having spent the vast amount of his fortune on gambling , Walker has very little tangibly to show for the ten years plus that he spent as a player in the league. Though he was a member of Miami Heat winning team that in 2006 won the NBA title . Walker’s years spent within the league were somewhat unproductive and his failure to live up to the promise that he showed as a Kentucky Wildcat must be a profound disappointment to his former college coach. And though Pitino states, that the player has been training hard in trying get himself back into a better physical and mental shape. It is hard to believe at this stage of his life Walker can provide anything to a team. Given his lack leadership skills and his preference to be lazy not just on the court but also off it. It’s hard to believe that a franchise within the NBA would even be prepared to sign the veteran to a 10 day contract , much less to the league mandated veteran deal.
Over the course of his career in the league Walker earned in excess of $120 million. Through lack of prudent financial planning , allegedly bad investments and his cravings as a gambler. Let’s surmise that Walker was never really good at either ! He lost far more than he’d ever won and by all accounts even having declared bankruptcy , he was still to be found within the vicinity of Las Vegas trying to turn his luck around at whatever casino would be prepared to let him have a crack at their tables. In large part that was encouraged by the fact his entourage were current players in the NBA who had money to burn and a great deal of time on their hands. And anyone who believes that the league doesn’t have a problem concerning its players and their gambling addictions. Then they “ought to view” Antoine Walker as the “poster child” for what can go wrong and how quickly things can take a turn for the worse. David Stern as commissioner , has done very little to address the problem even with the advent of NBA hierarchy having conducted their own research into the problem. Their findings have never been made public and in conjunction with the NBPA (Players’ Union) and their Executive Director Billy Hunter __ not once has a public statement ever been made addressing the issue.
Now a case could be made that were Walker a more well rounded individual and someone who applied himself diligently. Then there would be that a team might look upon him favorably and give that most slender of chances that he requires. But the former player’s proclivities for making a fool of himself. The chances of him even landing a roster spot with any team would seem extremely remote at this juncture. And if Pitino is in his corner willing to vouch on his behalf. I still sincerely doubt that will happen and the fortunes of the player change as to his ambition. Credibility being what it is , would you even be willing to listen to anything that Pitino, himself would have to say ? Honesty was never his best policy to begin with . But that asides , the thought of a thirty three year old less than agile Walker running up and down an NBA court isn’t something that I for one would as being enviable at this juncture. Much like a three legged racehorse impaired by its ability to move swiftly. Antoine Walker may well have the desire to return to the game. But in essence he’s simply doing it out of greed and not necessity .
His sell by date has come and gone and so too has real will to win !
This we hold to be self evident and true ……. yah dah , yah dah , yah dah ! Time is up Antoine , get a steppin’ !
